ImpeachForPeace.org has a do-it-yourself memorial [PDF] asking the House Judiciary Committee to assemble Articles of Impeachment against President Bush. According to their site, there is precendent for this citizen-led method in an 1826 case wherein a federal judge was impeached as a result of a private citizen’s filing of a memorial (the judge was acquitted). The form they have put together is based on this prior successful memorial. They are urging people to complete it and send it to Judiciary Committee members both now and again on October 12th.
In case you need to be reminded of the reasons for doing this, they have a brief section of “Charges and Evidence” that covers four major areas:
- Illegal War
- Illegal Spying
- Illegal Torture
- Illegal Detention

It's very encouraging to see an increase in all sorts of progressive activity all over the web, particularly in the "blogosphere". Plus Air America radio and lots of other similar talk programming is reaching people via the web. What took so long? Oh well...better late than never!
The question remains: will this translate into votes? When only 28% of the electorate even bothered to vote in this past week's primary elections, it's difficult to get too optimistic. Fingers crossed!
