In a couple previous posts, I groused about the final 1.2-mile uphill leg of my evening bicycle commute. After getting in better shape and losing 20 pounds didn’t help, I was finally convinced to put down the whip of self-flagellation and turn my attention to my obscenely heavy, out-moded bike.
I am just now heading out to the store to pick up my new Giant FCR-3. Check it out.
Actually, I am going to test ride it, and I need to overcome my inherent tendency to not manage my own expectations. It might not work for me; I have to be prepared to just walk away.
Serenity now! Serenity now!

Looks like a nifty bike! Hope it works out for you and that you'll soon conquer that long incline. Make sure that the seat is adjusted so that when you're in the sitting position, you can touch the ground with your toes (not the flat foot position). That way, you'll almost extend your legs with each pedalling down cycle. Also do some deep knee bends every day. That will boost the power in your leg muscles! Keep us updated. Mrs. Arrmac and I are thinking of graduating to something similar to the bike you're considering. We get around pretty well with our beach cruisers (even up hills!), but would like to go faster and farther. Gears would help a lot.
